We regularly take our sing-along sessions into residential care homes where many of the residents suffer with dementia. We understand the power of music and that people with dementia seem to have a special ability to remember songs.
People who have dementia often find it difficult to communicate with others, yet when they hear a familiar song, they are often able to recall the lyrics and join in, singing along with their friends for a while, clapping along, tapping their feet and dancing.
During our activity sessions we encourage residents to wave ribbons, throw soft, colourful pom-poms, kick around light-weight balloon balls and make some noise with percussion instruments.
Our old fashioned song medleys are particularly popular with residents.
We are Dementia Friendly and we encourage you to be Dementia Friendly too.
